We Should Cocoa - the December Challenge

Once again we had a lovely selection from last month's Caramel Challenge and Chele did a great job of the round-up. As usual I want to try everything - there just aren't enough days in the week.  Thank you to all those who participated and for your delicious contributions.

For the last few weeks I've been debating what ingredient we should use for this month's We Should Cocoa.  With Christmas coming and the deadline for the challenge being Christmas Day, it had to be a seasonal ingredient. Figs, dates, oranges and cinnamon immediately sprung to mind.  Well oranges are lovely and cinnamon is my favourite spice, but I wanted something a bit more challenging than these two.  So a toss up between figs and dates - hmmmm?

Well, I hope everyone likes dates because that's what I've plumped for.  Just thinking of those Medjool dates has me salivating, then there are all those sticky datey cakes and tray bakes and date syrup is becoming increasingly easy to find.  I'm sure you'll come up with plenty of ideas. The final date for sending in entries is the 25th as usual.  Please send post links and photos to weshouldcocoa@yahoo.co.uk.  You can find the rules of the challenge here as well as links to previous challenges.  Do please join us.

  6. I'd love to jump on the bandwagon for this one! I have a hundred ideas in my head - guess I need to narrow it down to one!

  7. Hmm....interesting. If I can struggle through the ice and snow, I'll get some dates and think about it. I have, in the distant past, taken chocolate on dates but I suppose that's not the same thing at all.

  13. CityHippy - I love dates too. The best ones I ever had came from Kuwait, but they were a one off.

Sophie - no, not like dates? What a shame.
